Hike: 52 Miles for Group 1

Duration: 7 days - I Extended the number of days to allow for some shorter hiking days and more time to enjoy the scenery.

Equipment Needed: Full Pack (50lb maximum) Teams of 2 people, you need to stick together as a team. Teams are self contained with all supplies necessary to hike separated from the group. We will rent 2 Satellite Phones for communication with groups that separate and for emergency situations.

Hike Details: Nights 4, 5 and 6 will be spent above 3,500ft so we aren't allowed to have camp fires. We will have 3 GPS units (Michael, Scott, and Lucas) with topo within something like 20ft so we will be more than good to go. I'll of course have a map and compass for backup. Given the time of the year we should be able to see the Ocean and other sights from the Skyline ridge which will be sweet. Other critters are also way up in the high county this time of year so maybe we'll get lucky and see some black bear too. There are a few places along skyline where water is a little harder to come by some bring an extra 90oz water platypus for packing water.

Groups 1 and 2 will hike together until the Elip Creek split on July 28th as Group 1 heads for Kimta Peak! Group 2 will meet Group 3 at the Three Prune Creek Camp on Wed, July 28th.

Cost: The exact cost is yet to be determined, but we need to cover gas for pickup and drop off vehicles, back county camping permits, Satellite phone rental, and Bailey Guide Service (just kidding :)) Somewhere around $50 depending upon the final group size.

  • Bear Canisters (Rent from Backpacker Supply In Tacoma or Forest Service)
